Melaykos (Unknown Year)

You open your eyes slowly and feel pain. Your vision is blurred but above you you see dark clouds blotting out the skies. It's cold.

You remember your name. Melaykos. But the rest of your memory seems foggy, like it's almost within reach but it keeps slipping away.

You force yourself to sit up slightly, and see you are wearing the tattered remains of what were once red robes. The dark color almost masks the stains of blood upon them. You are unsure if it is yours or another's. It's Quiet. You push yourself up harder off of hard stone beneath you. You appear to have been laying on what was once some form of shrine, though it is now little more than a vine-covered pile of rubble.

As your vision improves you see that around you is a forest of dead trees. Many of them reaching far up into the sky with spidery branches. Others toppled to the ground. But each and every one dead. The ground beneath them is equally barren, with a few spots here and there showing the dry crumpled remains of dead flowers or grass. The whole forest has a dark and eerie blue tinge to it, as if the very air around you tries to shroud the light.

Towering in the distance out of the forest is a tower, enormously tall and magnificently engineered. It's doors and windows appear from this distance to be hollow, and it slants at a crooked angle poking out of the trees. As you stare at it a stone brick plummets from it's upper levels and disappears into the forest below.

To your left side through the trees you think you see the shape of a figure bending over a pool of dark water. He is very still.

What do you do?

I do not remember who I am, but deep down I do. I am the god of death and all shall join me.

I walk over to the figure and say hello.

You approach the cloaked man. As you approach him you notice that he appears to be covered in a layer of dirt.

You greet him. He does not move or respond.

"Well then, you will be the first"
I push him into the pool of water and hold him under the water, in an attempt to drown him.

As you push him you find that your hands go directly through his body and he crumbles into ash. What remains of him continues to keep next to the dark murky waters.

You notice an absence of any wind

I will turn and walk towards the tower.
happy with my first soul collected.

As you walk through the trees you begin to notice that dark, ashen corpses of many more people, and the occasional animal.

You finally find the base of the tower, apparently having sunken partially into what appears to be a swamp of dark murky waters. The water is still, with not even the slightest ripple. Nonetheless you cannot see anything beneath the surface.

All the plant life around you, even the vines climbing the tower are dead.

You notice you've been leaving a small trail of blood

investigate where the blood is coming from

You find that the blood seems to be coming out of a deep gash across your left side. It seems to be an old injury that was broken open.

look for something I can use to bandage the wound

Nothing apart of the environment around you appears to be of much use to bandage an injury, seeing as the plants are entirely dead. You do however have a somewhat tattered cape that hangs off your back as part of the robes. Additionally, most of the rest of the fabric on your robes appears usable.

Then walk around the tower looking for any possibly entrance

You tear off a piece of the cape and bandage your wound. You then walk around the pool of swamp water looking for an entrance into the tower. Though the door seems to have sunken below the surface you spot a couple empty windows that could be entered through. However the whole tower is surrounded by the dark water.

There are many rocks of various shapes around you. You throw many of them into the water. The sound of splashing sounds especially loud as it breaks the silence and stillness of the forest. Nothing out of the ordinary seems to happen as the rocks sink into the dark pool

I search for any fallen trees that may be able to make a bridge to the window of the tower

You search around for some dead trees, however the distance to the tower from the shoreline is quiet large and no trees seem to be long enough to reach it.

I decide enough is enough, I am a god unstoppable. I fear nothing.
I swim through the dark water over to the window

You swim through the waters towards the window. It isn't to deep and you can walk most of the way there. The water is so dark you can't see anything below it. It feels strangely heavy.

Eventually you reach the bottom of the tower, in front of a window that is large enough to crawl through. It is dark inside. Very Dark.

I try and find a spot outside of the water where I can let my eyes adjust to the darkness around me.

You let your eyes adjust to the darkness inside the tower. You can see a little better now, but it is still very dark.

Investigate the room

The room inside appears to be a lab of some kind. Though the outside of the tower was covered in stone, the inside appears to be of a more modern look. There a few computers that line one of the walls and a couple metal cabinets on wheels. A thick layer of dust and dirt covers everything.

I begin to search for some sort of light source I can use to brighten the place up

You look around this first room. You attempt to turn on some of the computers and other machines to see it you can get some form of light but none of them seem to be connected to any working power source. You find a couple flashlights as well but all the batteries have lost their power long ago.
