Hathgar (Year 638 of the Lathwyn Calendar)

Your name is Hathgar. You are swordsman of the royal army of the great Kingdom of Ekryptia. Until recently you were living in the southern provinces of this kingdom, putting down civil unrest and executing thieves. The last months you've been doing battle against the southern tribes of Sha'Nuub, past the southern border of Ekryptia. You fought in the name of the great Emperor Xavid Orius I in order to conquer the lands for your great kingdom.

Your last memory is that of a great battle against these people, one which you were winning. Now however, you awake to find yourself at the bottom of what appears to be a pit dug into the ground. At the top is a wooden trapdoor, keeping you stuck inside. Very little light manages to make its way to you through the boards but from what does you see that you are alone.

You hear the sound of talking coming from outside.
